Keeping pace with the digital future: DigitMak Industry Meetup

DigitMak held an Industry Meetup on 25 September at the Holiday Inn in Skopje, as part of the MicroBalkans 2026 – Lending Reimagined conference.

The event focused on digital transformation and opportunities to strengthen the digital capacities of companies and institutions in North Macedonia, with a particular focus on the application of emerging technologies in the financial sector.

As part of the first session, participants had the opportunity to learn more about the support and services offered by DigitMak and take part in a workshop dedicated to digital transformation. Through the Digital Maturity Assessment (DMA) tool, companies and institutions were able to gain insight into their level of digital maturity and identify areas with potential for further development.

The programme continued with a session focusing on the regulatory and technological changes shaping the digital landscape, with a focus on the EU AI Act and eIDAS 2.0, including the development of the European Digital Identity and Digital Wallet.

The central part of the event was the panel discussion “Digital North Macedonia and the Future of Financial Services – DigitMak as a Leader in the Digital Future”, which explored the development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, as well as their role in transforming financial services and access to finance.

The panel brought together M.Sc. Stefan Andonovski, Minister of Digital Transformation; Prof. Dr Petre Lameski, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje and Coordinator of DigitMak; Edmira Hana from the Agency for Innovation, Scientific and Technological Development and Entrepreneurship (INOVA), which is also an associate member of DigitMak; and Prof. Dr Dimitar Trajanov from the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje and Coordinator of the “Vezilka” Artificial Intelligence Factory.

The discussion covered the opportunities that digitalisation and artificial intelligence create for the business sector, the need to develop digital capacities, and the importance of cooperation between institutions, academia and companies in creating a more innovative and competitive economic environment.

Through this Industry Meetup, DigitMak once again highlighted its role in supporting companies and institutions in their digital transformation journey and in bringing together different stakeholders around the opportunities created by emerging digital technologies.
